There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous amenities in addition to the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
