An Online Wagering Glossary

Regardless of the fact that online wagering is now a many billion dollar industry, and countless thousands of additional gamblers around the world log on each day to bet at online casinos, there are still millions of newcomers to the environment of online wagering who do not as yet have a good understanding of a lot of the doublespeak employed in internet wagering, and betting on sports in general. ACTION: Any style of wager.

ALL-IN: In poker, all-in means a player has risked all of their bankroll into the pot. A second pot is set up for the players with additional money.

ALL-UP: To wager on many horses in the same contest.

ANTE: A poker phrase for allocating a necessary number of money into the pot prior to the start of each hand.

BRING-IN: A necessary bet in seven-card stud carried out by the player displaying the lowest value card.

BUST: You do not win; As in chemin de fer, when a player’s cards exceed a value over twenty-one.

BUY-IN: The the least value of money necessary to get in a game or tournament.

CALL: As in poker, when a bet equals a previously carried out bet.

CHECK: In poker, to remain in the game and not wagering. This is applicable only if no other gamblers wager in that round.

CLOSING A BET: Like in spread betting, meaning to put a bet equal to but opposite of the initial bet.

COLUMN BET: To bet on one or more of the 3 columns of a roulette table.

COME BET: In craps, similar to a pass-line wager, but made after the player has achieved her point.

COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters first roll to arrive at a point, or the 1st toss after a point has been arrived at.

COVERALL: A bingo term, meaning to fill all the squares on a bingo card.

CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to toss a two, three or 12 is an automatic defeat on the come-out roll.

DAILY DOUBLE: To pick the champions of the first two races of the day.

DOWN BET: To wager that the result of an action will be lower than the lowest end of the quote on a spread bet, also referred to as a "sell".

DOZEN BET: In roulette, to bet on any of three categories of 12 numbers, 1-12, etc.

EACH WAY BET: A sports wager, meaning to gamble on a group or player to succeed or medal in a game.

EVEN MONEY BET: A wager that pays out the identical value as wagered, ( 1-1 ).

EXACTA: Betting that two horses in a race will complete the race in the exact identical assignment as the wager – also referred to as a " Perfecta ".

FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a bet carried out on a grouping of 5 numbers, such as 1-2-3-0, and 00.
