Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is banned. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, features 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that features numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
